About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Investigator to lead our Additive Manufacturing (AM) research efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and advancing the state-of-the-art in AM technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead novel external project proposals to advance AM technology
  • Collaborate with government, industry, academic, and RTX Business Unit partners to develop whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposals
  • Lead process development activity to improve print capability, increase speed, reduce cost, and enhance material performance in support of advanced RTX Business Unit product initiatives
  • Develop and utilize advanced tools and equipment to characterize machines and process space
  • Work with cross-functional teams including materials, design, simulation, operations, and characterization engineers to support and improve the full value stream
  • Support RTX Business Units by providing process expertise and best practices
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands-on experience working with laboratory equipment
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation
  • Demonstrated experience writing proposals and leading complex R&D projects as Principal Investigator
  • Strong presentation, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
  • Experience with advanced build processors including tool path development and implementation
  • Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript, or similar
  • Experience with software and tools used in Additive Manufacturing including CAD packages
  • Hands-on experience with metal laser powder-bed-fusion AM equipment
  • Working understanding of AM machine sensors and control systems
