Position Overview
The E-Commerce Solutions Architect is tasked with overseeing the architectural framework and associated documentation for applications and systems focused on commerce.

This role involves spearheading collaboration with both business and IT stakeholders across the organization to devise solution architectures that fulfill essential business capabilities while remaining aligned with overarching business and technology strategies.

The incumbent will specifically manage assets related to the web and e-commerce ecosystem of applications and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning
  • Offer strategic, technical, and operational guidance to support transformative business and technology initiatives.
  • Contribute to the technology strategy and planning; lead research on emerging technologies to enhance systems development efforts.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with divisional and business unit subject matter experts.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define business requirements for complex systems development from both functional and non-functional perspectives.
  • Encourage synergies and reuse across projects to maximize efficient delivery of business value while advocating for architectural principles.
  • Effectively communicate solution architectures to senior management and development teams through various deliverables and presentations.
  • Mentor and support system development teams in implementing reference architectures and standards.
  • Guide the use of integration strategies in collaboration with relevant teams to realize dependable business value.
  • Stay updated on emerging design patterns and industry best practices.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and business-focused teams to facilitate understanding and shared goals.

Acquisition and Deployment
  • Provide technical oversight for multiple project initiatives.
  • Lead technology lifecycle projects, including evaluation, selection, implementation, and retirement.
  • Assess alternative architectures for feasibility and composition, making informed recommendations.
  • Develop prototypes of system designs in collaboration with technical architects and delivery teams.

Operational Management
  • Assist in creating enterprise-wide technology standards.
  • Document architectural designs and standards for implemented solutions.
  • Create and maintain reference architectures and models to guide IT delivery teams.
  • Ensure compliance of architecture with requirements and validate system adherence.
  • Develop and enforce system standards and solutions review processes.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation processes.

Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of IT experience, with 8+ years in designing and implementing distributed systems.
  • 6+ years in enterprise or solutions architecture.
  • Experience with IBM WebSphere Commerce or HCL Commerce is essential.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with search and merchandising technologies.
  • Knowledge of content management systems.
  • Familiarity with order management systems.
  • Understanding of product information management practices.
