Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Fuel Systems or Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Fuel Systems to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This role will be responsible for designing and developing fuel system components, performing system-level analysis, and ensuring airworthiness criteria are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Perform responsible engineer activities, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting for fuel system components.
  • System-Level Analysis: Conduct performance simulation and analysis in support of fuel subsystem development, including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Plan, execute, and verify system-level tests, including data processing and troubleshooting.
  • System Evaluations: Conduct evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
  • Technical Communication: Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience: 2 years of engineering experience for Responsible/Analysis Engineer, or 5 years of engineering experience for Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer, or Master's degree with 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to commencement of employment.
  • Skills: Professional experience related to the development and integration of fuel systems in commercial or military aircraft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Education: Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and/or heat transfer disciplines.
  • Experience: Experience with aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
  • Analysis Skills: Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems.
  • Software Skills: Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software.
  • Airworthiness Certification: Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516.
  • Component Interpretation: Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
  • Proposal Support: Experience supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations.
