Apex Systems is currently seeking a Construction Cost Analyst for a prominent Fortune 200 Utilities Client.

This role is designated as Hybrid, and candidates should be located in New Albany, OH.

Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted.

While the position is primarily remote, in-office attendance will be required 2-3 days a week for a duration of up to 90 days. Candidates must reside in New Albany, OH, or nearby areas. The first day will necessitate on-site work. Relocation or candidates from outside Ohio will not be considered. The remote to hybrid schedule may be subject to change based on executive leadership decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Assist estimating personnel in analyzing and comprehending actual costs compared to projected costs throughout the Project Lifecycle Management Process.

2) Collaborate with Project Management and other stakeholders to facilitate, lead, and execute project revision processes, including the development of cost driver summaries and revised estimates.

3) Contribute to enhancing efficiencies in project cost evaluations.

4) Support data management and improvements within the estimating department.

5) Exhibit economic and business acumen with a solid understanding of engineering, design, procurement, contracting, estimating, project management, construction, and startup procedures.

6) Demonstrate strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment, and prioritization of project activities.

7) Understand contingency applications (risk-based and percentage-based) and how field conditions influence contingencies.

8) Utilize reporting mechanisms within internal systems effectively.

9) Train and become proficient in estimating applications within the department.

10) Understand construction schedules and their impact on project costs.

11) Grasp construction contracting processes.

12) Interface with various departments, including Financial Controls, Business Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and Construction Management.

13) Collaborate with different Standards groups to understand data structures and devise methods for capturing data within estimates.

14) Develop conflict management skills to resolve disputes and maximize synergies with the overarching goal of benefiting the company.

15) Support continuous improvement initiatives within the company and department.

16) Provide training and mentorship to junior employees as appropriate, demonstrating growth in several areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

For the Construction Cost Analyst position: A qualified Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience; or a qualified Associate's degree plus four (4) years of relevant experience in the aforementioned areas.

For the Senior Construction Cost Analyst position: A qualified Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or a qualified Associate's degree plus seven (7) years of relevant experience in the aforementioned areas.

Qualified degrees must be in a related field from an accredited institution, including Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management.

Relevant Experience:

Includes knowledge and experience in utility-specific operations, with a strong understanding of work processes and procedures. Experience should encompass a combination of planning, project management, project controls (scheduling, cost tracking/analysis, forecasting, project budgets, and accounting principles), and/or construction management.
