Position Overview:
This role primarily involves assisting estimating personnel in assessing and comprehending actual costs compared to projected costs throughout the Project Lifecycle Management Process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support estimating teams in evaluating cost discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Project Management and other stakeholders to lead project revision processes, including the development of cost driver summaries and revised estimates.
- Enhance efficiencies in project cost evaluations.
- Manage data and improve information systems within the estimating department.
- Demonstrate economic and business acumen related to engineering, design, procurement, contracting, estimating, project management, construction, and startup processes.
- Exhibit strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment, and prioritization skills for project activities.
- Understand contingency applications and their impact on project costs.
- Utilize internal reporting mechanisms effectively.
- Train in the use of estimating applications within the department.
- Understand construction schedules and their influence on project costs.
- Comprehend construction contracting processes.
- Interface with various departments such as Financial Controls, Business Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and Construction Management.
- Collaborate with Standards groups to understand data structures and capture methods for estimates.
- Develop conflict management skills to resolve disputes and promote synergies within the company.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior employees as needed.
Qualifications:
Project Cost Analyst: A qualified Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of relevant experience, or a qualified Associate's degree with four (4) years of relevant experience in the specified areas.
Project Cost Analyst Sr: A qualified Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of relevant experience, or a qualified Associate's degree with seven (7) years of relevant experience in the specified areas.
Degrees must be in a related field from an accredited institution, including Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management.
Relevant Experience: Candidates should possess utility-specific operational knowledge and experience, with a solid understanding of work processes and procedures. Experience should encompass planning, project management, project controls (scheduling, cost tracking/analysis, forecasting, project budgets, and accounting principles), and/or construction management.
