Position Title: Custodian

Position Type: Regular Full-Time

Purpose of the Role
The Custodian is responsible for the routine cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of designated buildings and facilities within the Tribal Government. This role is essential in ensuring a clean and safe environment for all staff and visitors. The Custodian is expected to embody the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and perform all tasks diligently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and arrange rooms and facilities as per outlined instructions for scheduled events.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained in optimal working condition and secure all supplies.
  • Execute tasks with minimal disruption to the workflow of departmental staff.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning materials, alerting the Custodial Supervisor when reordering is necessary.
  • Report any maintenance issues observed, such as leaks or damages.
  • Safely operate custodial machinery, including vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Daily Duties

  • Conduct cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities according to a pre-established schedule.
  • Restock supplies such as hand towels, soap, and tissue as required.
  • Collect and dispose of waste in accordance with established housekeeping and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a custodial or housekeeping role preferred.
  • Six months of experience in a custodial setting, particularly in an office environment, is preferred.

  • Skilled in multitasking with a strong commitment to quality and integrity.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting up to fifty pounds.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, suitable for a diverse audience.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.

  • Ability to travel for training and development opportunities.
  • Capability to fulfill all responsibilities associated with this position effectively.
