Job Overview

Position Summary: This role is a crucial component of the Saw Filing Department, directly reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. The work environment is a modern, climate-controlled file room.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a member of a versatile work team while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain a motivated and positive attitude, with a preference for candidates possessing 1 to 2 years of experience in wood remanufacturing, sawmill operations, or forest product industries.

Physical Requirements:

The position demands:

  • Frequent standing and manual dexterity for filing saws and operating power tools.
  • Physical tasks including pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting weights of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Continuous visual acuity to ensure proper filing and tensioning of saws, along with auditory skills to respond to equipment sounds and alarms.

Accountabilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
  • Meeting production goals effectively.
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and calibrating precision machinery.
  • Adhering to quality control standards in the filing shop.
  • Troubleshooting and assessing saws for any defects.
  • Managing the water and lubrication systems for saw boxes.
  • Working collaboratively or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in servicing round saws and band saws, including repair, tensioning, leveling, and sharpening.
  • Knowledge of equipment functionality, maintenance, and alignment for various saw types.
  • Ability to oversee all aspects of saw maintenance for stellite and carbide saws.
  • Understanding preventative maintenance processes related to saw shop and sawmill machinery.
  • Technical expertise in the manufacturing and servicing of saws, guides, and chipping knives.
