Position Objectives

The Field Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance, repair, and overall cleanliness of recreational facilities. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the highest standards of upkeep for community spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts routine physical tasks such as lifting, digging, carrying, and installing necessary equipment and materials.
  • Applies appropriate chemicals and treatments to recreational fields and grounds to manage weeds, pests, and prevent diseases.
  • Assists in the upkeep and repair of plumbing systems, including the installation and maintenance of valves and pumps.
  • Manages and maintains the Recreation Batting Cage area.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
Daily Duties
  • Ensures that all recreational fields and facilities are prepared and in excellent condition for events.
  • Operates and maintains vehicles and light equipment safely for various projects.
  • Performs cleaning tasks for all outdoor facilities, including mopping, dusting, and waste disposal.
  • Engages in a variety of landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and litter removal.
  • Assists in the maintenance of irrigation systems for recreational areas.
  • Contributes to the upkeep of swimming pool facilities, ensuring safety and proper water chemistry.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred one year of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
  • Must obtain First Aid Certification, including CPR, within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must acquire 'Groundskeeper U' certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must complete 'Mandatory Reporter Training' within the first week of employment.
  • Must achieve 'ServSafe Certification' within the first 30 days of employment.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in operating lawn care equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Physically fit to perform various tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel for training and development opportunities.
  • Capability to fulfill all job responsibilities effectively.
