Job Title: Mechanical Product Design Engineer III

Join Daimler Truck North America as a Mechanical Product Design Engineer III and contribute to the development of innovative powertrain systems and engine mount structural components for heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles.

About the Role

This position is part of DTNA's Powertrain department within Chassis Engineering, a fast-paced and rewarding new product development group responsible for integrating powertrain systems and developing cab and engine/powertrain suspensions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop engine mount structural components and overall powertrain mounting systems for traditional ICE vehicles and future propulsion technology platforms.
  • Analyze and provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production.
  • Interface with suppliers in the design/development phase, prototype part procurement, production tool build, and into series production.
  • Collaborate with design & manufacturing engineering colleagues, product strategy & marketing to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as cost/efficiency targets.
  • Support future propulsion technologies such as Fuel Cell & H2 ICE with mounting & isolation concepts.
  • Use NX CAD system to create and maintain 3D part designs, detailed 2D part/assembly drawings, GD&T, packaging studies, and installation diagrams.
  • Work with Product Validation to verify powertrain NVH & durability of engine mount systems are achieved.
  • Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline with 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal & written skills including preparing & giving presentations.
  • Demonstrated CAD skills (NX).
  • Experience leading projects and managing project deliverables.
  • Understanding of engineering & upstream/downstream processes.
