Job Summary:The Project Engineer II plays a vital role in interpreting plans and proposals to assist in the preparation of bids, budgets, schedules, contracts, and material orders. This position also involves analyzing job costs and aiding in the coordination of construction projects.
Main Responsibilities:
• Foster a culture of safety within the organization, actively supporting all safety initiatives and adhering to defined responsibilities set forth by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
• Uphold and promote the core values, vision, and mission of the company; adhere to the code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety protocols, and other established policies.
• Ensure the safety of all operations within the assigned area; engage in ongoing efforts to enhance safety processes.
• Analyze information to effectively plan construction operations based on project timelines and staffing needs for each phase.
• Coordinate the procurement of equipment and materials to ensure timely delivery in alignment with work schedules.
• Assist in directing supervisory personnel and subcontractors involved in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various construction phases.
• Aid in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, monthly projections, submittals, purchase orders, and materials.
• Facilitate communication between supervisors, engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction challenges and enhance methods.
• Conduct inspections of work to verify that craftsmanship meets specifications and adheres to construction timelines.
• Provide recommendations for improving cost estimating procedures to minimize discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Assist with daily job costing and inventory management on assigned projects.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy highway, municipal, and/or commercial construction is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Required to wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as per company safety guidelines.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Frequently required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Regularly required to communicate effectively (talk and hear).
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Often required to stand/work on feet for extended periods and traverse uneven terrain.
• Regular exposure to heavy equipment and machinery, with potential exposure to loud noise.
• Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, noise, and various weather conditions.
