Job Summary:The Project Engineer II assists in interpreting plans and proposals to prepare bids, budgets, schedules, contracts, and material orders, while also analyzing job costs and aiding in the coordination of construction projects.
Main Responsibilities:
• Promote and uphold the Company's safety culture, actively engaging in all safety initiatives and adhering to defined responsibilities set by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
• Support and embody the Company's core values, vision, and mission; comply with the code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety protocols, and other established policies.
• Ensure the safety of all operations in the assigned area; actively participate in the continuous improvement of safety processes.
• Analyze information to plan construction operations based on project timelines and staffing needs for each phase.
• Coordinate the procurement of equipment and materials to ensure timely delivery in line with work schedules.
• Assist in directing supervisory personnel and subcontractors involved in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various construction phases.
• Aid in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, monthly projections, submittals, purchase orders, and materials.
• Facilitate communication between supervisors, engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction issues and enhance methods.
• Conduct inspections of work to ensure compliance with specifications and adherence to schedules.
• Provide recommendations for improving cost estimating procedures to minimize discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Assist with daily job costing and inventory management on assigned projects.
• Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy highway, municipal, and/or commercial construction is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Must wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as per company safety guidelines.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently required to stand/work on feet for extended periods and walk across uneven terrain.
• Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery, with exposure to loud noise.
• Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, loud noise, and various weather conditions.
