Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supplier Identification and Recommendation: Investigate potential sources, research parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability to identify and recommend suppliers that meet our requirements.
  • Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Conduct site visits to evaluate production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria. Support or lead supplier certification surveys as part of a technical and/or quality team.
  • Negotiation and Contract Administration: Evaluate proposals from potential suppliers, select suppliers for complex or technical materials, supplies, or services, and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service terms. Develop alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers.
  • Procurement Contract Management: Negotiate final terms and conditions of purchase, award, and administer the procurement contract to conclusion. Maintain accurate lead times for the assigned area and issue purchase orders and agreements that reflect negotiated price, schedule, terms, and conditions.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, determining and implementing corrective actions to address potential supplier failures that may delay production or delivery. Resolve shipment quality discrepancies and facilitate inspections, substitutions, and standardization by coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Damage Claims and Dispute Resolution: Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure suppliers meet all company and government or commercial procurement requirements, and address pertinent technical and quality issues to ensure compliance.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare complex reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
  • Process Improvement: Apply continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems. Develop, coordinate, and implement improvement initiatives with key suppliers. May lead or be assigned to special project teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration or a related field, with theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
  • A minimum of six years of increasingly responsible related experience. A Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS is desired.
  • Experience in risk management related to supplier delivery risks, with the ability to propose solutions.
  • Proficiency with standard business application software and specialized purchasing and materials systems (e.g., electronic data interface (EDI) or manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems).
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects and maintain regular meeting notes and actions from recurring supplier meetings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multi-layer projects/tasks and hold suppliers accountable to business needs.
  • Experience in blueprint and drawing reading is a plus.
  • Related experience in a highly technical industry such as Aerospace or Medical is preferred.
