Position Overview:

Oversees all operational functions for rapid prototyping initiatives. Directly manages and coordinates activities across STS Operations divisions. Accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of development operations. Collaborates with other key area managers to successfully implement the overall manufacturing strategy. Responsible for the production sectors, including Safety, Quality output, Delivery performance, and Cost management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the formulation of product strategy and the research and development of innovative products.
  • Establishes standards for production and quality control.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with the company’s quality system in alignment with customer and company standards.
  • Maintains a well-trained and cross-trained workforce across all production sectors to effectively manage work orders.
  • Coordinates facility modifications that may necessitate design, layout, personnel planning, training, and comprehensive management of a development manufacturing site.
  • Develops and manages budgetary and cost control measures.
  • Monitors all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments, implementing mitigations when discrepancies arise.
  • Gathers data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines of ordered products.
  • Provides insights on personnel needs, material requirements, subcontractor necessities, and facility and equipment demands.
  • Aligns activities with all organizational functions and suppliers to maximize production and optimize the use of human resources, machinery, and equipment.
  • Conducts administrative tasks associated with effective shop operations management, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reporting purposes.
  • Defines responsibilities for assigned organizational and staff roles to achieve business objectives.
  • Trains and ensures all employees are informed of and adhere to company, government, and customer policies, procedures, regulations, and security protocols.
  • Collaborates with program office and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of compliant products.
  • In partnership with the manufacturing engineer, assigns daily workloads to lead technicians, including completion expectations.
  • Develops strategies to enhance the STS manufacturing facility.
  • Implements process improvements through collaboration with manufacturing engineers, lead technicians, and shop technicians.
  • Provides estimates for production time, staffing needs, and associated costs to inform management decisions and proposal support.
  • Exhibits visible and effective leadership, motivating and inspiring team members to achieve both individual and organizational goals.
  • Quickly identifies and develops talent to strengthen team and operational capabilities.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Over 10 years of related experience; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance/access approval at the appropriate level (Active Clearance Preferred).
Physical Requirements:

Office and/or manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • May need to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with General Safety Training guidelines.
  • May require extended hours or weekend work.
Travel Requirements:
  • 0-25% - May necessitate travel between Kratos locations.
