JOB SUMMARY
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering nursing care. This includes conducting admission and discharge evaluations, administering prescribed medications, documenting nursing activities, and executing physician directives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive admission and discharge assessments for assigned patients, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Perform health assessment screenings for all new admissions.
- Review, document, and implement physician orders with precision.
- Exercise sound judgment in addressing any concerns or irregular findings.
- Administer medications with accuracy, monitoring patient responses and documenting accordingly.
- Adapt to evolving situations, reprioritizing tasks as needed to meet patient care demands.
- Provide compassionate support to patients, maintaining their confidentiality and treating them with respect.
- Possess a solid understanding of the effects of various substances, including signs of intoxication, overdose, and withdrawal syndromes.
- Stay informed about relevant policies, procedures, and standards, utilizing appropriate resources as needed.
- Manage inventory for medications and maintain accurate clinical and administrative records.
- Assist in training and orienting new staff members.
- Stay updated on regulations governing the unit and current charges.
- Participate in staff development and mandatory training sessions.
- Remain aware of current trends in the field of nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program; valid state LPN licensure required.
- Maintain licensure through ongoing education.
- 2-3 years of experience working with individuals facing substance abuse challenges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with quality improvement and accreditation processes.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to observe, assess, and document patient symptoms and progress.
- Knowledge of patient care documentation and histories.
- Capability to educate patients and families about disease processes and care instructions.
- Understanding of supply management and inventory control.
- Proficiency in clinical operations and documentation standards.
- Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and infection control standards.
- Skill in executing clinical and medical procedures.
- Knowledge of patient evaluation techniques and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to manage scheduling and appointments effectively.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and patient care aids.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The role involves a typical office environment with considerable physical activity. Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds may be required. The position may involve exposure to potentially hazardous situations, necessitating adherence to extensive safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
