Position Summary

Under the supervision of the attending physician, the Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering comprehensive nursing care to all residents within the designated unit during the assigned shift. This role includes overseeing the delegation of responsibilities, ensuring quality resident care, and monitoring staff performance in accordance with facility standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with allied health team members to create and execute a personalized care plan for each resident.
  2. Administer total nursing care through systematic assessment, strategic planning, and ongoing evaluation.
  3. Dispense prescribed medications and treatments as per established protocols, continuously assessing their effectiveness.
  4. Foster a supportive physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to the well-being of residents.
  5. Engage in educational initiatives for residents and their families.
  6. Oversee team members' performance and contribute to their professional development, assessment, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  7. Delegate nursing tasks to team members and ensure timely and appropriate completion.
  8. Stay informed on facility policies, procedures, and current nursing practices through ongoing education and training.
  9. Identify significant changes in residents' conditions and take appropriate actions.
  10. Document all nursing care provided, resident responses, and other relevant information as per facility guidelines.
  11. Act as a charge nurse, serving as a resource for staff, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and making informed decisions regarding resident care.
  12. Comply with all safety policies and procedures established by the facility and department.

Supervision

This position reports to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and/or Nursing Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Illinois nursing license.
  • No history of abuse convictions.

Skills and Competencies

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
  • Ability to adhere to facility policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Capability to see and hear or utilize prosthetics to meet job requirements.
  • Ability to interact with residents who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or experiencing emotional distress.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development relevant to nursing practice.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting as necessary to provide care.
