Job Overview

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists is seeking a skilled Intake LPN to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and supporting our oncologists and hematologists in their daily work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Float between NYCBS locations as needed to provide seamless patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with all New York Cancer and Blood Specialists policies and procedures.
  • Update and maintain electronic patient records, transitioning hard copy records to digital format as needed.
  • Record patient information, including vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history prior to each appointment.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
  • Provide front office support, answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility.
  • Assist in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physicians with exams.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens.
  • Perform basic lab tests.
  • Perform EKGs.
  • Administer and document medication under a physician's order, following the five medication rights to reduce the potential for medical error.
Requirements
  • Current NYS LPN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity.
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR.
  • Travel to any of the NYCBS locations.
