Patient Access Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Patient Access Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration and financial processing of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Support the registration and financial processing of patients in the Emergency Room and other areas of the hospital.
- Verify patient demographic information and insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing and revenue cycle goals.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide excellent customer service and address any concerns or issues.
- Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure seamless patient throughput and efficient use of resources.
- Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and policies to ensure compliance and adherence to Stony Brook Medicine's standards.
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records systems.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, with knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing processes.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records systems and ability to navigate complex software applications.
