Position Overview

As a Lead Project Manager/Engineer at Stantec, you will be at the forefront of managing a diverse array of federal and Department of Defense (DoD) asset management initiatives. Your role is pivotal in enhancing our asset management practice, ensuring that we maintain our commitment to safety, quality, and ethical standards in all our endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive facility surveys, assessments, and audits, primarily supporting significant DoD program initiatives.
  • Oversee and direct team members, including employees and subcontractors, ensuring effective contract administration.
  • Engage with clients to establish project plans and timelines, ensuring alignment with their expectations.
  • Supervise project teams, providing mentorship and leadership to foster professional growth.
  • Develop and prepare detailed construction documents, plans, and specifications, while executing necessary revisions.
  • Evaluate engineering systems, implementing relevant code, accessibility, and zoning analyses.
  • Conduct field observations to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Plan, audit, and inspect large-scale industrial, governmental, and military facilities.
  • Perform energy studies, audits, and rate/metering surveys to optimize facility performance.
  • Inspect complete facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural components.
  • Prepare cost estimates and detailed project descriptions for client review.
  • Compile comprehensive facility and condition assessment reports.
  • Develop and write extensive facility audit and management plans.
  • Prepare proposals and estimates for consulting services, presenting them to potential clients.
  • Negotiate final award fees and prepare subcontract statements of work.
  • Summarize final reports and deliverables in presentations to clients.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven ability to exercise professional discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong track record of client satisfaction and relationship management.
  • Commitment to Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects concurrently while establishing clear priorities.
  • Ability to adapt and maintain organization in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, responsibility, and leadership capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of procedures necessary for completing contract documents and obtaining permits.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents, financial reports, and construction drawings.
  • Expertise in business development, particularly with federal clients, including DoD.
  • Exceptional technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with building codes and construction standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Capability to obtain a security clearance and work independently.

Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Architecture, Planning, or Engineering Consulting.
  • PE registration or Architect license is highly preferred.
  • Experience with DoD planning and budget/contracting procedures is advantageous.
  • Project Management Professional certification is desired.
