Role Overview

As a Lead Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing and directing all facets of medium to large-scale, multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects characterized by high technical complexity, typically involving fees exceeding $1 million and a large project team.
  • Independently managing and guiding teams of engineers and CAD professionals to develop comprehensive master plans, engineering reports, design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications, and project cost estimates for water/wastewater initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships while engaging in marketing efforts, securing new business, defining project scopes and budgets, scheduling, and negotiating contracts.
  • Leading and supporting the proposal preparation process.
  • Simultaneously managing multiple projects.
  • Facilitating project development sessions with clients and internal teams in various settings, ensuring participation from Project Managers and relevant technical professionals.
  • Creating project management plans and assembling project teams, including sub-consultants, with clear responsibility assignments.
  • Coordinating staffing and workload from project inception to completion, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Collaborating with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller, and Department Manager for project evaluations.
  • Implementing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols.
  • Conducting training for personnel as outlined in strategic plans.
  • Supervising project staff and mentoring junior team members and less-experienced Project Managers.
  • Maintaining professional engineering licensure.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • PE License in the State of Idaho or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment facility projects.
  • Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong initiative, planning, leadership, and mentoring capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Robust technical knowledge related to the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Proven business development skills for attracting new clients.
  • Commitment to Quality Assurance/Quality Control practices.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills for nurturing relationships with team members and clients.
  • Experience in managing staff, clients, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated business development and strategic planning expertise.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively to complete tasks.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project (Access experience is a plus).
  • A valid driver's license.
