We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Coordinator to join our team at The University of Rochester. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support the clinical, educational, and academic programs in the Cardiology department.

About the Role

\

This position requires a high level of independence and initiative, with minimal direction from physicians, mid-level providers, department heads, and administrative officers. As a Medical Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating patient care, teaching, and research activities, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to University policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • \
  • Scheduling procedures, appointments, and ancillary tests with input from physicians and other healthcare personnel.\
  • Providing patients with procedure descriptions and special instructions as necessary.\
  • Ensuring test results are received, reviewed, and appropriately filed.\
  • Supporting Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare professionals in delivering patient care.\
  • Assessing and triaging calls, gathering information, and referring callers to physicians or other healthcare personnel as needed.\
  • Managing and monitoring in-baskets/workque on a daily basis to ensure referrals, appointments, telephone encounters, and all related activities are completed and accurate.\
  • Acting as a liaison for contacts to area physicians to facilitate securing new referrals for Cardiology providers.\
  • Providing administrative support, including preparation and distribution of correspondence and reports, preparation of faculty medical school and hospital appointment paperwork, and compiling data and creating materials for teaching activities and presentations.\

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Medical, Secretarial, billing, or related field preferred.\
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required; 1 year of leadership experience preferred.\
  • Demonstrated customer service skills required.\
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical/appointment scheduling software, and electronic medical records preferred.\

Compensation

\

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $18.50 - $24.05 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
