About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst II to join our team at Hensel Phelps. As a Data Analyst II, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing Business Intelligence (BI) software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
  • Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems.
  • Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models.
  • Create data definitions for new database file/table development and/or changes to existing ones.
  • Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity.
  • Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools.
  • Monitor data management system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Responsible for creating/maintaining custom business reports and dashboards.
Requirements
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or statistics, and/or 4+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in BI solutions are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data modeling tools such as.
  • Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
  • Working technical experience with relational database servers, including.
  • Direct experience with data management techniques.
  • Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into data management issues, practices, and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Benefits

Hensel Phelps provides generous benefits for our salaried employees. This position is eligible for company paid medical insurance, life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment, long-term disability, 401(K) retirement plan, health savings account (HSA) (HSA not available in Hawaii), and our employee assistance program (EAP). It also is eligible for employee paid enrollment in vision and dental insurance. Hensel Phelps also believes in the importance of taking time to recharge. As a result, salaried employees are eligible for paid time off beginning upon hire. Salaried positions (project engineers and above) participate in an annual bonus plan, subject to company and employee performance. Salaried employees (this is all salaried employees) are also eligible for a company cell phone or cell phone allowance in accordance with company policy. Further, salaried employees (project engineers and above) also receive either a vehicle or vehicle allowance in accordance with Hensel Phelps' policies. Based on position location, a cost of living adjustment (COLA) may also be included (subject to periodic review and adjustment).
