Position Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the timely, precise, and safe administration of medications to residents, adhering to the directives provided by healthcare professionals. It is crucial to implement all aspects of the residents' personal care and service plans while treating each individual with dignity and respect, promoting their independence and self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one of the following credentials: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CENA), Medical Assistant (MA), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the ability to physically and mentally fulfill the essential functions of this role. Effective communication skills in English and competency in medication administration are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by licensed healthcare professionals in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Document medication administration accurately and promptly in the EMAR system.
  • Report any medication-related concerns following established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of medications, including controlled substances, and reorder as necessary to prevent missed doses.
  • Ensure the medication cart and med room are clean and organized, complying with EMAR requirements.
  • Engage in routine communication with healthcare professionals, pharmacy staff, hospice personnel, and family members regarding resident care.
  • Document all communications related to resident care, particularly any changes in medication.
  • Respond to resident requests for assistance, including monitoring call lights.
  • Observe residents for any changes in their physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral conditions and report to the supervisor.
  • Assist residents in maintaining their highest level of independence.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and treat all residents with dignity and respect.
  • Provide exceptional care and service in accordance with individual care plans.
