Overview:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a skilled Project Engineering Lead to enhance our Project Engineering division in Waco, TX. The Project Engineer (PE) will hold technical accountability and authority for the program under the guidance of the Program Manager (PM), Engineering Leadership, and the Chief Engineer (CE). Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning and execution of program activities.
  • Documenting and securing approval for program plans.
  • Ensuring adherence to life cycle processes.
  • Identifying and managing risks effectively.
  • Coordinating overall program activities throughout the program lifecycle.

The individual will oversee Engineering Functional Task Leaders across various disciplines such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, and more, providing direction for the assigned program operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning and Execution: Collaborate with program management to develop execution schedules, communicate effectively with the program team, and guide the team through necessary tasks to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Customer and Leadership Communication: Maintain effective communication with external clients and internal senior leadership regarding the design and implementation of required capabilities while managing expectations.
  • Leadership of Integrated Product Teams: Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, both internal and external, to ensure successful program execution.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers in Project Engineering and Integration.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of experience in a related environment may be considered in lieu of a degree. Candidates must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Skills:

Experience across various engineering disciplines is desirable, including:

  • Project Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • Software/Hardware Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering (Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, etc.)
  • EMI/EMC Engineering
  • Test Engineering
  • Mission Systems

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with Aircraft and System Integration
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with FAA and Military certification processes
  • Experience with L3H processes and proposal submissions
  • Knowledge of the entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle
  • Experience in Aircraft Modification and Modernization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Engineering Schedule Development
  • Expertise in mission system configurations to meet customer requirements
  • Integration expertise across ground, aircraft, space, or shipborne mission systems
  • Experience with ISR products and platforms
