POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct oversight of the AoA Title VI Program Coordinator, this role is accountable for the preparation and delivery of meals, ensuring a hygienic kitchen environment, and managing the procurement and storage of supplies, while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the AoA Title VI and USDA programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs monthly meal plans and prepares dishes in compliance with AoA/USDA standards, minimizing waste and utilizing established recipes for varying group sizes.
  • Utilizes standard culinary equipment and tools for optimal food preparation, ensuring all appliances are maintained in a clean, safe, and functional state.
  • Manages financial responsibilities related to credit card purchases, orders, and receipts in accordance with ITCN financial policies.
  • Oversees the purchasing and inventory of food items, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and meal specifications.
  • Receives and properly stores food and supply items at the designated site.
  • Guarantees that elders are served meals that adhere to recommended dietary guidelines in a welcoming atmosphere conducive to mealtime conversation.
  • Ensures thorough cleaning of kitchen and dining areas post-meal service, upholding safety and sanitation standards as per program directives.
  • When necessary, delivers meals to certified homebound elders.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly reporting on menus, meals served, revenue collected, and supportive services provided.
  • Handles distribution and collection of eligibility documentation for both congregate and home-delivered meal services, as well as conducting annual needs assessment surveys.
  • Operates independently and resolves minor issues that may arise at the site.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, courtesy, and tact when interacting with colleagues, elders, and the community, responding positively to inquiries or concerns.
  • Participates in training and performs related tasks and supportive services as necessary to comply with Title VI standards and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Nevada Driver's License and reliable transportation with appropriate state insurance coverage.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational certification.
  • Ability to obtain Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficient in basic math and capable of using a calculator.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training or technical assistance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience in group food preparation or vocational training is preferred.
