Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a dynamic Agile team to tackle unique challenges that foster professional growth across multiple disciplines.
  • Design, develop, and enhance next-generation Self-Servo-Write firmware, ensuring high reliability and quality while minimizing test durations, with a focus on:
    • Fly-height and preamp functionalities related to heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) heads,
    • Servo/Servo-Write channel operations,
    • Power drivers and motors, including thermal actuators and spindle motors.
  • Create firmware and MATLAB tools to optimize the functionality of new and existing preamps, SoCs, read channels, and power drivers.
  • Engage with product development teams to address critical technical challenges impacting quality and efficiency.
  • Work alongside internal and external partners to innovate new SoCs and features for read channels and power drivers.
  • Validate hardware platforms for Self-Servo-Write functions, encompassing SoCs, power drivers, and recording heads.
  • Collaborate with servo control experts to establish key metrics for data collection and analysis.
  • Mentor junior engineers by sharing insights and solutions, fostering a culture of knowledge exchange.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D., MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in real-time embedded firmware or software development.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics.
  • Proficiency in real-time development using C/C++, with a preference for object-oriented design experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with firmware debugging tools and lab equipment, along with MATLAB proficiency.
  • Background in Control Systems, Hardware Design, or Digital Signal Processing.
  • Prior experience in hard disk drive or magnetic recording technologies is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Excellent teamwork, analytical, and communication skills, complemented by an Agile/Lean mindset.
