ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Senior Service Engineer (SSE) serves as the primary contact for customers, ensuring that assigned projects maintain optimal availability. The SSE is accountable for addressing all customer inquiries and overseeing maintenance operations for a project, which includes both responsive reactive maintenance and planned preventive maintenance while managing third-party contractors. Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the principal owner of large-scale energy storage facilities and the main point of contact for customer interactions.
  • Champion a culture of safety, ensuring that safety protocols are prioritized during maintenance activities.
  • Oversee timely reactive and preventive maintenance efforts in coordination with the customer, providing on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and hands-on technical assistance.
  • Proactively identify and implement process enhancements within our expanding service organization to lower costs, enhance reliability, and elevate service quality.
  • Supervise third-party service contractors.
  • Maintain precise records of all site activities and generate professional service reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to boost product reliability and minimize service expenses. Work closely with Remote Monitoring Operations, Installation teams, and Engineering teams to share insights for improving monitoring tools, installation quality, and product reliability/serviceability.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reducing service costs within our team and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred undergraduate degree (BSEE, BSME, BSCE) or Licensed Electrician.
  • Experience with bi-directional inverters, HVAC systems, and 1000V/high current DC systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electric utility or independent power producer roles within generation, operations, or technical teams (Energy Storage, Coal, Gas, Solar, Hydro, Wind).
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting safety initiatives in operational settings and leading efforts with contractors.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing conditions while maintaining focus on goals.
  • Experience in establishing purchase orders and managing scopes of work and payments with third-party service providers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with various levels of customer organizations.
  • Project Management skills—capable of managing diverse issues at a site and articulating plans to customers while driving actions to resolution internally or with contractors.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with SCADA and MODBUS is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Physical capability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, and lift up to 40 lbs.
