Job Summary

The Facilities Engineering Department at KBI BioPharma is seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to provide technical support for ongoing site operations associated with automation systems and process equipment. This role will involve troubleshooting equipment failure, ensuring engineering and quality standards are maintained, and supporting the implementation of Deviation/CAPA findings, site improvement projects, Change Controls, and management of small to medium-sized Capital Projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for automation systems and process equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment failure and ensure engineering and quality standards are maintained
  • Support the implementation of Deviation/CAPA findings, site improvement projects, Change Controls, and management of small to medium-sized Capital Projects
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and other procedures for installed systems
  • Support and comply with engineering standards, drawing controls, project controls, and other procedures and standards necessary for the successful operation of the department
Requirements
  • Associates/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and controls equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and Building Automation Systems
  • Experience with Profibus configuration and management, Allen-Bradley 500, CompactLogix, Control Logix PLC, Allen-Bradley Panelview HMI, Siemens S7 PLC, and Siemens HMI Displays
  • Experience with 4-20mA, 0-10/5-10/0-5 vdc sensor signals, PID loop control paradigm, and communication protocols including RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet, Modbus, and Profibus
  • Experience working with P&ID, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple commitments and technical problems
Working Conditions
  • Incumbents may work with toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment
  • Supports the 1101 Hamlin Road and 4117 Emperor Blvd North Carolina sites and may need to travel between sites during the workday
  • Non-routine off-hours weekday work may be required. Off-hours response time to system anomaly: 1 hour maximum
  • Non-routine week-end work may be required
  • Must comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the company and the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry, including FDA regulations such as cGMP, GDP, Health Safety Environment regulations, and company regulations such as the employee handbook
Salary Range

$110K - 130K

The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
