Senior Engineer, Chassis Controls & Electronics
Location: Southfield, MI
Employment Type: Fulltime Hire
The Senior Engineer specializing in Chassis Controls & Electronics will be responsible for the design, development, calibration, and validation of systems that govern Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics control. This role requires close collaboration with various engineering teams to create advanced traction control, stability control, torque vectoring, and other vehicle dynamics functions from initial concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities:
• Formulate the requirements and specifications for traction control, stability control, torque vectoring, braking, steering, and suspension control systems from concept to production with precision and thoroughness.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Controls, Motor Controls, Chassis Electronics, and Vehicle Dynamics teams to design, test, and calibrate prototype controllers in virtual, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), and vehicle settings.
• Develop, implement, and document system design validation plans that encompass virtual, HiL, and vehicle-based testing activities.
• Engage closely with stakeholders and attribute owners across the organization (Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Vehicle Controls, Motor Controls, Platform Software).
• Manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive sector.
• Proficiency with Vector tools (CANape, CANalyzer, CDMStudio, etc.).
• Strong grasp of Vehicle Dynamics principles.
• Demonstrated success in delivering exceptional vehicle performance.
• Practical hands-on experience in prototype development.
• Basic familiarity with software development (Matlab/Python/CAPL scripting, C++, model-based).
• Ability to interpret and work with electrical schematics, along with a solid understanding of electrical communication principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, leveraging fundamental principles and data-driven approaches.
• A strong desire for continuous learning and improvement.
• Experience in developing driven vehicle attributes is advantageous.
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics discipline, or equivalent experience.
