Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing projects related to polymer material innovation, process optimization for extrusion, and material evaluation. Additional Duties:

  • Innovate and refine processes related to polymer additive manufacturing and printed electronics.
  • Support the engineering team in the production of additively manufactured components.
  • Design and evaluate prototypes and engineering solutions.
  • Present findings and data to the engineering team in a clear and organized manner.
  • Document project progress accurately and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ensure the maintenance of laboratory equipment and manage material inventories essential for experimental tasks.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical skills and 1-2 years of experience in polymer additive manufacturing techniques, including FDM and SLA.
  • Proficient in conducting experiments using additive manufacturing equipment and basic laboratory tools.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and networks.
  • Competent in data analysis and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and management.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in laboratory settings.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and soldering is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with materials testing and equipment such as tensile load frames and rheology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various polymers and processing technologies.
  • Consistently produces high-quality work and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing and screen printing for electronics is beneficial.
  • Experience in managing print runs and conducting quality assessments during production.
