About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Manager, Health Equity and Community Impact Specialist. This is a temporary 10-month part-time position that requires a strong understanding of community-based initiatives and a proven track record of building relationships with community-based organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, community influencers, health clinics, and other partners to implement and advance our Eye Health Equity initiative.
  • Strategic Event Planning: Plan and execute strategic events, including the Eye Health Equity Summit, to engage diverse stakeholders and promote awareness of prediabetes and diabetes-related eye disease.
  • Leadership and Expertise: Provide leadership and subject matter expertise as the key point of contact for the local community and region.
  • Community Engagement: Drive creative solutions and ideas informed by the community to remove barriers to equitable health and advance access to quality care.
  • Representation and Awareness: Represent the American Diabetes Association and ADA-led collaborations at local events and meetings, and utilize company assets to raise awareness of prediabetes and diabetes-related eye disease within the community.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in community engagement and impact, civic roles, community-based organizations, public health, health promotion, public relations, or related field.
  • Experience and Skills: 3 years' experience in community engagement and impact, civic roles, community-based organizations, public health, health promotion, public relations, or related field, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Leadership and Management: Demonstrated ability to recruit and mobilize volunteers and support Community Councils and Leadership Boards.
  • Community Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local community's strengths and opportunities, existing relationships with community leaders, and ability to build those relationships.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.
