Job Summary:

The Director of Global Health Communications Specialist leads strategic media relations efforts to promote health initiatives and engage with national and international media outlets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Health team and Brand, Communications & Content team to develop and implement public relations strategies.
  • Building relationships with experts, media, and influencers to promote health initiatives.
  • Managing media content creation and social media to ensure consistent messaging across all health activities.
  • Oversight of health communications budget to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Leading global multimedia efforts to promote health initiatives and engage with national and international media outlets.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director of Global Health Communications Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Strategically leveraging communications initiatives to promote health initiatives.
  • Proactively pitching health stories to media outlets to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Managing all health communications activities to ensure consistent messaging and effective resource allocation.
  • Creating and implementing high-level strategic communications plans to promote health initiatives.
  • Supervising the Manager of Global Health Communications to ensure effective team management.
  • Evaluating communication strategies to ensure effectiveness and impact.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5-8 years of communications management experience in a similar role.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as communications, public health, or international relations.
  • Demonstrated skills in news-style writing and media relations to effectively promote health initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • Cross-cultural experience to effectively engage with national and international media outlets.

Desired Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Training as a print or broadcast journalist to effectively pitch health stories to media outlets.
  • Experience in communication roles to effectively manage health communications activities.
  • Background in international development or public health to effectively promote health initiatives.
  • Familiarity with global health frameworks to effectively engage with national and international media outlets.
  • Interest in innovative multimedia to effectively promote health initiatives.
