About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Summer Intern to join our team at Canon Virginia, Inc. in Newport News, Virginia. As a Business Development Summer Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain industry and/or organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments in our state-of-the-art Innovation Center.

Your Impact
  • Gain industry and/or organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.
  • Perform diverse and challenging tasks to gain valuable hands-on experience.
  • Assist CVI staff on various projects, tasks, and activities relating to their area of study or coursework.
  • Perform assigned tasks consistently in a professional and timely manner to meet required deadlines.
  • Utilize good time management skills to effectively and accurately complete work assignments.
  • Exercise good judgment and knowledge from the classroom setting and apply it to a professional work environment.
  • Apply research techniques, analytical methods, presentation skills, writing skills, and/or technical knowledge to the workplace.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures governing professional staff behavior.
  • Balance internship work schedule effectively with classroom coursework.
  • May be responsible for research, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. as part of assigned projects.
  • May work in several departments to assist with completing additional projects or tasks.
  • Participate in activities designed for development during assignment.
  • Prepare presentation summarizing experiences gained through the internship and present to peers and management.
  • May attend meetings and/or company events.
About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring
  • Student must be working towards an undergraduate degree with the minimum credit hours to be classified as a junior or senior in their studies and have taken several related courses to the field in which they will be assigned.
  • Student must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Student must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Some positions may require that the intern meet the ITAR definition of "U.S. Person" due to work areas being subject to export controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
