Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Coordinator to join our Medical Oncology team at Johns Hopkins Health System. As a Patient Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs patient scheduling, pre-registration, and telephone triage activities, utilizing electronic health records (EHRs) to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, routes calls to appropriate staff, and documents messages in patient EHRs.
  • Schedules patients' appointments, including chemotherapy and therapeutic infusion treatments, follow-up visits with oncologists and nurse practitioners, and laboratory tests.
  • Coordinates visits within the department or between multiple departments.
  • Registers patients for clinical appointments using computerized databases.
  • Verifies and enters pre-registration and insurance information into the computer system.
  • Obtains and verifies patient demographic and insurance coverage data by phone or in person.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of business, insurance, and/or medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical office setting.
