Job Overview

The Beverage Service Cashier plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience for our patrons at JACK Thistledown Racino LLC. Reporting directly to the Food Hall Leader, this position is essential in providing prompt service, high-quality beverages, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to operational policies and standards, ensuring the delivery of quality beverages and food items, along with effective cash handling and safety protocols.
  • Process guest payments, operate the cash register, and accurately settle checks following established procedures.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned cash drawers and accurately record all transactions during shifts.
  • Document all tips received through credit card transactions.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide clear, friendly communication.
  • Prepare food and beverages according to standard recipes or customize orders based on customer preferences.
  • Manage food stock by rotating dated items and overseeing incoming food orders.
  • Ensure cleanliness in food preparation areas by regularly cleaning workstations and utensils.
  • Set up and break down workstations, ensuring they are clean and restocked as necessary.
  • Open food service outlets promptly, preparing and serving a variety of items as required.
  • Be adaptable and ready to perform various tasks throughout each shift.
  • Conduct 'station' and 'side work' checks as directed and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and intervene appropriately as per guidelines.
  • Interact positively with guests and colleagues while taking orders, processing payments, and delivering food and beverages.
  • Properly dispose of refuse and debris in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Utilize food preparation equipment such as ovens, toasters, steamers, and blenders.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Calm and rational decision-making skills in conflict situations.
  • Capability to navigate the property across multiple floors using stairs or escalators.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, along with the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, and kneel.
  • Manual dexterity to operate necessary food and beverage equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
  • Competence in following oral and written instructions and seeking clarification when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Preferred six months of experience in a related field, though not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in cash handling is advantageous but not essential.

Required Certification:

  • OLC, Non-Gaming License.
