Job Title: Safety Coordinator with Lineman Expertise

EP Breaux Utility Services is seeking a highly skilled Safety Coordinator with Lineman Expertise to join our team. As a key member of our utility operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Safety Protocols:
    • Design and maintain comprehensive safety programs tailored to the specific needs of linemen and utility operations.
    • Update and refine safety protocols as needed to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct Safety Training and Education:
    • Deliver regular safety training sessions for linemen and other field personnel, covering topics such as electrical safety, fall protection, and emergency response.
    • Ensure all employees are trained in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Perform Safety Inspections and Investigations:
    • Conduct regular job site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
    • Lead investigations into any safety incidents or near-misses, analyzing root causes and developing strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety regulations.
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in safety laws and regulations that may affect company operations.
  • Manage Safety Equipment and Resources:
    • Oversee the selection, maintenance, and use of safety equipment, including PPE, fall protection systems, and electrical testing devices.
    • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and readily available.
  • Assess and Mitigate Risks:
    • Conduct risk assessments for new projects and tasks, particularly those involving linemen working on live electrical systems.
    • Implement appropriate safety measures based on the assessed risks.
  • Promote a Safety Culture:
    • Lead by example, encouraging safe work practices and recognizing employees who demonstrate a commitment to safety.
  • Develop Emergency Response Plans:
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for job sites.
    • Conduct drills and ensure all personnel are prepared for emergencies, including electrical accidents and severe weather events.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Additional training in occupational health and safety is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyman lineman, with 5 years in a safety-related role.
    • Experience in utility operations is highly preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30-Hour Certification, NFPA 70E certification, and CPR/First Aid certification are required.
    • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or similar is a plus.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough safety audits and investigations.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform field inspections, which may require climbing, working at heights, and exposure to various weather conditions.
Other Requirements:
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed.
