Role SummaryThe Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining a secure environment on the premises. This role is crucial for the protection and safeguarding of assets, staff, clients, volunteers, visitors, and property.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the safety and security of all facilities and grounds.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, law enforcement, and other security partners.
- Conduct regular patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas to ensure security.
- Implement access control measures, including screening procedures for individuals entering the facility.
- Engage with unauthorized individuals as necessary and coordinate with supervisors or law enforcement.
- Provide assistance to visitors regarding the location of various offices and areas.
- Manage situations involving unruly individuals and request police assistance when appropriate.
- Monitor security systems, including CCTV and alarm systems.
- Exhibit professionalism and uphold uniform standards while performing duties.
- Respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations, assisting staff as needed.
- Document and report security activities and incidents accurately.
- Maintain order and address rule infractions or disturbances effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Experience or knowledge of the LGBTQ community and relevant issues.
- Passion for the mission of supporting LGBTQ individuals.
- Current State of California Guard Card is required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a similar security role.
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Availability for rotating shifts and weekends.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, particularly in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
