Position Overview

The Multilingual Education Program provides leadership and resource development for the state's PK–12 education system, focusing on support for multilingual and English learners.

This unit oversees the administration of various educational programs aimed at serving multilingual learners and their families.

The Bilingual Education Program Manager will manage grants and offer professional development and technical assistance for dual and heritage language programs.

Key Responsibilities

This position involves managing grants and providing professional development and technical assistance for dual and heritage language programs, including:


Grants to School Districts:
Reviewing and approving applications and budgets submitted by local school districts for dual and heritage language grants.

Providing training and technical assistance to school districts throughout the application process and ensuring funds are utilized effectively.

Standards, Assessment, and Accountability:
Coordinating and disseminating professional learning on state standards for dual and heritage language programs.

Collaborating with relevant teams to provide training on data collection and reporting for evaluating dual and heritage language programs.

Technical Assistance:

Planning and implementing statewide professional development for educators in dual and heritage language instruction, focusing on best practices and innovative approaches.

Assisting in the development of guidance for school districts, parents, and communities regarding dual and heritage language programs.

Representing the Multilingual Education Program in the area of Dual Language Education.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and/or Certification in Bilingual Education or a closely related field.

AND
Three or more years of experience working in dual and heritage language education in various school settings.
  • Experience may be substituted year-for-year for a degree.

Desired Qualifications:
Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).

At least five years of educational experience in dual and heritage language education.

Master's degree or higher.

Experience in providing professional development in dual and heritage language education.

Knowledge of language development standards and assessments for multilingual learners.

Strong commitment to collaboration, customer service, and teamwork.

Effective communication skills and familiarity with legislative and educational policy related to dual and heritage language education.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position ranges from $78,515 to $92,376, based on experience and qualifications.

A 5% stipend is available for candidates proficient in Spanish or another language. Additional geographic differentials may apply based on the candidate's work location.
