Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
Role Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing maintenance management and serving as a technical authority across all maintenance functions. This role involves conducting analyses, providing alternatives, and formulating recommendations to enhance safety, regulatory compliance, production integrity, and equipment availability while managing budgetary constraints related to mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation initiatives.
This position leads the maintenance team in implementing best practices to optimize equipment reliability and resource availability through recognized engineering improvements and sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates a comprehensive approach to identifying, planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance work.
- Conducts evaluations and gap analyses of existing procedures and performance metrics against industry benchmarks.
- Collaborates with colleagues to clarify roles and responsibilities, ensuring the success of maintenance management programs.
- Drives maintenance improvement initiatives identified through root cause analysis and compliance requirements.
- Develops detailed plans to manage departmental resources, including budget and staffing.
- Works with procurement to identify and negotiate the acquisition of necessary components and services.
- Ensures timely completion of maintenance objectives within budgetary forecasts.
- Supports technical experts with cost-benefit analyses, budget creation, and constraint identification.
- Fosters synergies with vendors and contractors to support maintenance initiatives.
- Documents and assesses the outcomes of completed work orders to enhance future execution.
- Establishes preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, including various monitoring techniques for key equipment.
- Creates work schedules for lubrication, cleaning, and inspection routines.
- Conducts root cause analyses on recurring maintenance issues and initiates corrective actions.
- Optimizes inventory costs for spare parts.
- Ensures availability of equipment historical data for informed decision-making.
- Develops a replacement analysis program for capital equipment based on maintenance histories and reliability performance.
- Maintains a comprehensive integrity plan for mechanical, electrical, and civil equipment aligned with strategic planning and maintenance activities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Commitment to safety in all job aspects.
- Advanced troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate across various manufacturing processes and business functions.
- Comfort with integrating new technologies into existing operations.
- Innovative problem-solving skills, capable of rethinking established practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Experience in managing organized maintenance and work management programs.
- Proven track record in implementing reliability improvement initiatives.
- Minimum of 7 years in a heavy industrial setting, preferably in mineral processing environments.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience, ideally in a unionized context.
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting in various climatic conditions typical of manufacturing environments.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Work split between office (30%) and plant (70%) environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
