Safety and Compliance Specialist

Ole' Mexican Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of safety and compliance within our manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and maintain compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other agencies.
- EHSS Plan Management: Ensure the EHSS plan is continuously in compliance and provide support to line management to meet facility goals and requirements.
- Legal and Regulatory Guidance: Advise management on applicable EHSS legal and other requirements.
- Program Implementation and Monitoring: Implement and monitor compliance with EHSS programs for General Industry as outlined by DOL (OSHA), EPA, etc.
- Leadership and Communication: Exercise continuous leadership to staff, resolving employee safety-related issues/concerns through problem-solving and focusing on keeping Safety & Health as a top priority.
- EHSS Committee Management: Chair the EHSS Committee, coordinate meetings, minutes, and follow-up on CA/PA.
- Government Regulations Compliance: Coordinate and track progress of government regulations compliance.
- Plant Safety Teams and Multi-Plant Safety Council: Direct Plant safety teams and multi-plant safety council.
- Accident Statistics and Recommendations: Overview company accident statistics and make recommendations for correction problem areas.
- Incident Investigations and Audits: Lead and cooperate with EHSS committee members, department managers, and line supervisors in incident investigations, looking for the identification of root causes and implementation of improved processes and/or corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Comprehensive Audits: Conduct and/or coordinate the site's comprehensive audits with EHSS committee members, department managers, and line supervisors, helping with hazard identification, assessment, prevention, and control.
- Workplace Safety Walk-Throughs: Perform and record routine workplace safety walk-throughs, looking for compliance on HAZCOM, FAK, EWS, Fire Protection, EEL, WWS, LO/TO, EAP, etc. per OSHA requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Revise, complete (if needed), and file all necessary documentation and/or reports, in accordance with applicable reporting and record-keeping requirements.
- Injuries and Workers' Compensation: Manage report and record of injuries and input/send them on Workers' Compensation claims, including RTW (Return to Work) program to eventual closure.
- EHSS Records and Reports: Assist EHSS Manager on preparing and maintaining accuracy on the records to be submitted annually to all agencies like the EPA's SARA TIER II Report, OSHA 300, BLR report, etc.
- EHSS Training: Provide training on EHSS-related topics to employees and contractors (as required).
- Training Matrix and Notice of Safety Violation: Update the training matrix data, notice of safety violation, accident investigation.
- Emergency Response and Workplace Changes: Address emergencies, seek input on workplace changes, and make improvements.
- Attendance and Fitness for Duty: Consistent and punctual attendance each scheduled workday and arrives at work fit for duty and sustains fitness throughout the day.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting
