Job Summary

This is a hybrid role that offers a unique blend of office and field work. As a Transmission System Planning Engineer, you will work with complex systems and equipment, providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports development and maintenance of system models for transmission studies under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Collects and reviews forecast loads for inclusion in models.
  • Collects, modifies, and reviews electric system parameters, including equipment ratings, impedances, contingency sets, protection and control parameters, and system topology.
  • Performs DER transmission system impact studies across the entire Eversource service territory.
  • Prepares study scopes based on determined study assumptions.
  • Verifies technical information and models of DER applications according to modeling testing processes.
  • Provides timely comments to DER customers for model updates and corrections.
  • Applies corporate planning standards in conjunction with NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE reliability standards and criteria.
  • Supports solutions development to mitigate identified significant adverse impacts.
  • Documents study results in study reports.
  • Assists senior engineers in providing study updates and presenting study results to regulatory agencies, DER customers, and affected parties.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering required, with Electric Power Systems preferred.
  • Three plus years of relevant experience in planning, design, and/or operations related to transmission lines, substation facilities, with knowledge of power system planning.
  • Knowledge of power system transmission analysis tools, such as PSSE, TARA, EMS, ASPEN, PSCAD, or other similar analysis software.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python.
  • Knowledge of new technologies, including photovoltaic solar, electric vehicles, and battery.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory as applied to planning an electric power supply system.
  • Knowledge of National, State, and other planning standards and reliability criteria.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including formal presentation.
  • Excellent team skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to develop strategic partnerships.
  • Ability to achieve desired results by setting high standards for self and others, and accepts responsibility for outcomes.
What We Offer

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program, including an annual salary range of $95,000.00 to $105,000.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
