On-site Medical Assistant Lead

The Lead Medical Assistant works under the guidance of the Coordinator and/or Manager to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic and on-site hours. This position is responsible for the training of new staff and yearly certification. The Lead Medical Assistant will act as a liaison between the on-site coordinator/manager and the staff, recognizing ethical and legal responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Provide backup support to the medical assistant team, including all functions of a medical assistant.
• Assist with on-site scheduling, problem solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficient and quality services.
• Review charts, lab test results, and required forms for completeness and to assess follow-up as needed.
• Oversee medical supplies inventory and perform preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating, including sterilization of medical instruments and supplies.
• Work collaboratively with the clinic coordinator/manager and staff on programs to improve client outcomes.
• Must have the ability to take on-call on a rotating basis and provide services on-site and clinical after hours.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down the on-site.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
• Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
• Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Assist with performance reviews.
• May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Attendance and punctuality are necessary.
• May be required to travel.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
• 5 years of experience in a clinic setting.

• Must be able to pass a DISA Drug Screen and Background check.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a medical clinic.
• Knowledgeable of and maintains HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality.
• Phlebotomy certification.
Physical Demands:
• Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds.
• Repetitive motion.
• Extensive use of computers, copy machines, and keyboards.
• Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Mental Requirements:
• Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with employees and visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
