Sterile Processing Specialist

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective processing of reusable medical devices and supplies used in patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sterile processing procedures and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontaminate and clean reusable equipment and instruments in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Assemble, sterilize, store, and distribute medical devices and supplies for patient care.
  • Organize and assemble surgical case carts based on computer-generated physician preference cards.
  • Perform physical inventories of floor stock and SPD to ensure accuracy and integrity of system processes.
  • Collaborate with Material Management to monitor supply usage, storage, and organization of materials.
  • Operate and understand inventory control devices and programs.
  • Effectively communicate with inter/intradepartmental associates.
  • Adapt assessment, treatment, and/or service methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 to 12 months of practical application experience in sterile processing.
  • Sterile processing experience preferred.
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by IAHCSMM preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech preferred.
