As a Facilities Operations Supervisor at Sonder, you will lead a team dedicated to delivering an impeccable guest experience. You will be a detail-oriented leader who enjoys guiding the maintenance team through their daily tasks. Facilities Operations Supervisors are proactive problem solvers who learn quickly, teach thoroughly, and ensure all stakeholders remain satisfied and engaged, even while tackling hands-on tasks. This role is ideal for an experienced Facilities Operations Supervisor eager to take on a leadership position within a facilities team that enjoys unraveling and resolving maintenance challenges across various trades and building types.

AT SONDER YOU WILL:

  • Oversee the daily operations and responsibilities of the Maintenance Technicians within the city team.
  • Supervise a variety of tasks related to the upkeep of guest areas and rooms, including troubleshooting, minor repairs, and significant repairs or replacements of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural, or other building components.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance strategy, including periodic maintenance of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other building or room equipment.
  • Ensure high-quality repairs are completed to a superior standard in guest rooms and common areas, including furniture, doors, windows, patching, painting, and other hardware.
  • Adhere to all relevant federal and local safety and productivity regulations, including OSHA, ADA, and other required guidelines.
  • Support the maintenance team with standard operating procedures and best practices to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while completing maintenance, repair, or installation tasks.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with third-party contractors, including painters, installers, furniture builders, housekeepers, and other specialized trades.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and maintenance assessments of properties.
  • Organize and document project details and updates.
  • Instruct and supervise contractors during tasks such as painting, furniture assembly, art installation, and cleaning.
  • Travel to various properties as necessary.
  • Lead or supervise projects or specialized tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR:
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role with experience in managing personnel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in multiple skilled trades, such as HVAC, electrical, or carpentry, which may include NFPA 70E, EPA, OSHA 30, CMRT, PE, general contractor license, Stationary Engineer certification, or Fireman Boiler Operator.
  • A comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • A desire to share knowledge and teach trade skills to the team.
  • Strong ability to interpret and utilize building plans, schematics, drawings, and other construction or trade documents.
  • A meticulous nature with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
  • A professional demeanor with a strong capacity to build positive relationships.
  • Motivated to embrace new and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry items and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • A background in construction, hospitality, or operations is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to work weekends as needed.
  • This role requires regular access to a reliable smartphone, dependable transportation, and a willingness to travel between properties daily. (Reliable transportation may include biking, walking, public transit, scooters, or other forms of transit that provide reasonable travel times between locations).
