Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector to join our team on a contract basis. As an inspector, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of industrial materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation systems, with experience in inspection and testing. You will be required to work independently, conducting inspections and reporting findings in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and physical inspections of industrial equipment and materials
  • Witness testing and review QA/QC documentation, including MTRs
  • Issue reports of findings within specified time limits
  • Sign independent contractor agreements with SGS North America Inc.
  • Work on an as-needed basis, with payment for hours/days spent on assigned work

Requirements

  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation Journeyman certification
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards, such as NEC, IEEE, and ANSI
  • Ability to read and understand schematic wiring drawings
  • Working knowledge of PLC and associated instruments
  • Experience with LV, MV, and HV equipment, such as switchgear and protection devices
  • Minimum 3 years of inspection experience
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $35-$55 per hour
  • Mileage reimbursement for round-trip driving
  • Expense reimbursement for extended travel

Work Schedule

  • Ad hoc - as required by the client
