POSITION: Visual Communications Designer DEPARTMENT: Operations

POSITION SUMMARY: The Visual Communications Designer is tasked with developing broadcast graphics for daily content, ensuring a cohesive concept across all RNN shows and properties. This role involves assisting in the creation and execution of new graphic packages as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design on-air graphics packages and elements for RNN shows and properties.
  • Operate control room CG for live or recorded daily broadcasts.
  • Create graphics that enhance editorial content for live television production.
  • Engage in the design and implementation of elements, including on-air still graphics, show openings, and animated packages, demonstrating exceptional design, color, and typography skills.
  • Conceptualize, design, and animate graphics for new programming as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate design concepts and ideas.
  • Translate graphic requests into brand strategies and standards, delivering high-quality designs.
  • Stay updated with creative and technical trends in the industry.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a television network or video advertising agency.
  • Strong design portfolio and animation show reel are essential.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
  • Familiarity with ENPS, Xpression, and Chyron Hego Channel Box Prime; knowledge of 3D applications is a plus.
  • Efficient in using graphic design software in a MAC environment, including Apple OSX platform, Final Cut Pro, and Apple's Motion.
  • Creative, versatile, and open to exploring new approaches and techniques.
  • Must be flexible, deadline-oriented, a collaborative team player, and capable of delivering precise graphics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Capable of taking direction and providing creative input and suggestions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Strong spelling skills are necessary.
  • Awareness of current political issues, events, and relevant figures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BA/BS Degree in graphic design, film, animation, or fine arts. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively complex experience in a cable network or agency production environment.
