About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Rapoport's Restaurant Group Inc. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef in ordering and purchasing, meeting or beating the food cost budget, and scheduling kitchen staff.
  • Develop and implement menu items, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Prepare and direct the preparation of food, adhering to established production procedures and systems.
  • Determine food and supply requirements, ensuring availability and proper serving of food.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to sanitation standards and health regulations.
  • Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, culinary school or program preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Sous Chef.
  • Ability to understand requirements and fill in for the Executive Chef's absence.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Food safety handler card or Manager food-safety handler is a must.
