Position: Administrative Accountant

The Mid-States Organized Crime Information Center (MOCIC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Accountant to join our team in Springfield, MO. MOCIC provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, a 401(k) retirement plan, and life and disability insurance. This role is classified as non-exempt.

MOCIC is a collaborative organization that includes member law enforcement and criminal justice agencies across the Midwestern United States, working collectively to address multi-jurisdictional criminal activities. As part of the RISS Centers, MOCIC offers vital support to local, state, federal, and tribal criminal justice agencies through innovative solutions and services that enhance information sharing, bolster criminal investigations, and promote officer safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Functions:
    • Support budget preparation and ongoing maintenance.
    • Assist in the preparation, submission, review, and reporting of grants.
    • Handle financial entries, reviews, and reporting.
    • Manage the entry and processing of accounts receivable.
    • Oversee the preparation and processing of accounts payable and travel expenses.
    • Coordinate purchasing and inventory tasks, including product reviews, purchase order entries, and vendor communications.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records.
    • Collaborate with vendors for day-to-day repairs and maintenance of facilities.
    • Work effectively with various departments, vendors, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Human Resource Duties:
    • Assist in the administration and maintenance of human resources documentation.
    • Support onboarding and offboarding processes along with related administrative tasks.
    • Help manage health and benefit plan administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
    • Contribute to the development and presentation of new hire orientations and employee recognition programs.
    • Handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality.
    • Organize and collaborate on staff and member events.
    • Participate in recruitment and interviewing processes as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit initiative, independent judgment, and integrity while being a strong team player.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn accounting and human resources software.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including proofreading, filing, and answering phones.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least four years. A high level of computer proficiency is preferred. A professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are essential. Candidates should be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
