Job Overview

Position Summary: The Lead Financial Analyst role is responsible for overseeing tax, audit, and accounting functions across a variety of engagements, characterized by their complexity and scale. This position entails increased interaction with clients, tackling intricate technical challenges, and supervising the activities of junior professional staff. The successful candidate will manage advanced accounting operations, perform financial analyses, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates should possess an active CPA license or be eligible to take the CPA exam.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting or within a larger corporate environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • A collaborative team player who can foster positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, UltraTax, and Advance Flow.
  • Ability to work independently and think critically.
  • Must be able to gain familiarity with proprietary software applications.
  • Pass a background check as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure precise and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory frameworks. Assist in the consolidation of financial statements.

Accounting Services: Supervise accounting services, including bookkeeping and month-end closing processes. Review and authorize journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting transactions.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Aid in the formulation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for clients. Analyze discrepancies between actual and projected results, providing insights and recommendations for corrective measures. Support departmental managers in financial planning and cost management.

Tax Compliance: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation.

Audit Coordination: Facilitate and support both external and internal audit processes. Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and ensure timely audit completion. Implement audit recommendations to enhance internal controls.

Process Enhancement: Identify and pursue opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function. Lead or engage in initiatives aimed at streamlining accounting processes and enhancing efficiency. Implement best practices in financial reporting and internal controls.

Team Development: Mentor and guide junior accounting personnel. Review the work of other accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Assist in the training and professional development of the accounting team.
