Job Overview

McAllister Towing, a leader in marine services since 1864, is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Internal Auditor/Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Manager. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance within our operations.

Position Details:

Reports to:
  • Vice President/General Manager of the Port Operations.
Supervises:
  • None
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training across various marine topics and environments.
  • Provide expert guidance and resolve conflicts related to marine towing and compliance matters.
  • Conduct inspections of the fleet in New York and Connecticut, collaborating with vessel crews and local personnel to ensure they possess the necessary skills and resources to meet operational, safety, and environmental objectives.
  • Facilitate effective communication between boat crews and shore-side teams.
  • Perform internal audits and inspections to assess compliance.
  • Evaluate drill performance and readiness.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Company's Fleet Management System.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a current TWIC.
  • Valid USCG Licensed Merchant Mariner credentials.
  • Experience sailing on tugboats.
  • Certification as an internal auditor.
  • Previous experience in auditing and training within a marine context.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and software proficiency.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry and regulatory standards governing towing vessel operations and maintenance, with the ability to apply this knowledge during inspections.
  • Familiarity with ISPS, MTSA, AWO RCP, ISM, and ISO 9000 certification processes.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to operate a computer terminal.
  • Capable of using telephones and standard office equipment.
Training Requirements:
  • Completion of New Hire Familiarization Checklist (MCA-001).
FLSA Status:
  • Administrative Exempt
Compensation:

Annual Salary - $78,000 to $88,500.
