Position Overview

The Plant Manager serves as the principal leader on-site, overseeing all operations within the facility's boundaries and steering the production workflow. This role requires fostering a collaborative atmosphere among various departments including operations, sales, engineering, accounting, and logistics. The ideal candidate will champion continuous enhancements in workplace safety, production effectiveness, cost management, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards among plant personnel and visitors, exemplifying a culture of safety.
  • Oversee production scheduling to fulfill customer demands, ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on customer service and facilitate proactive communication within the team.
  • Collaborate with the engineering department to ensure accurate designs and specifications are utilized during manufacturing.
  • Manage procurement of materials and services essential for the facility's operations.
  • Effectively recruit, supervise, orient, train, and retain operational and production staff.
  • Uphold a clean and organized workplace that is always ready for tours.
  • Interpret technical drawings, plan production tasks accordingly, and guide employees in producing quality products.
  • Possess the ability to operate standard tools on the plant floor, such as overhead cranes and batch plants, to enhance coaching and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Lead and inspire teams through morning briefings, effective mid-day meetings, and by setting clear expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager as necessary.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity within an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in dry cast concrete, concrete pipe, box culvert, and precast concrete production.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of continuous improvement at the plant level.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams effectively.
  • Capability to work on-site for extended periods in an industrial environment, which may include unconditioned spaces.
  • Proficient in using computers for various applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AX, SAP).
  • Ability to guide and direct team members and collaborate with other leaders.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing cost reduction strategies.
